Look at the image and explain was done technically to convey the meaning and mood of this image? What is the mood of this image? What is the photographer saying or what story is being told here? What emotion is evoked inside of you? Using your knowledge of framing, angles, elements/principles of design, placement and lighting (as well as your awareness of how images are subjective to the viewer) thoughtfully deconstruct this image and explain how it is a significant image. Discuss the technical process that was used to achieve this.
1)Some of the the things done technically to convey the meaning and the mood of this image are how the author used shutter speed so you can see every part of the picture. He also used black and white which also adds to the mood of the picture. My interpretation of the mood of this picture is sadness, remorseful, and mournful. In this image i think the photographer is trying to tell a story of sadness. I see it as a girl going through a loss or maybe something bad has happens that caused her absolute sadness. This picture evokes the emotion unhappiness. An element of design i can definitely see in this picture is the element of design, value. The fact that the picture is in black and white makes it easier to see how dark or how light and area of the photograph is. which also leads me to the principle of design, contrast.i say this because you look at the picture, you can compare the lights from the darks. a possible process that was used to achieve this picture was making the F-stop higher.
2)The photographer of this image probably used a mid shutter speed (not too high or not too low) to convey the message because the subject of the image is in focus. My interpretation of this image is also sadness because of the look on the mothers. My interpretation of this image or what i feel like the photographer is trying to say that they're in need (suffering) and i can tell because of the woman's face. Also, judging from where they are, it looks like they are poor and going through some tough times. An element of design i identified in this image was texture. Although the field behind the people isn't the main subject, i feel like it has good texture. The woman's face is also good texture because of her wrinkles. A technical process also used to achieve the emotion of the picture was putting it in black and white.
3) The photographer of this image used the light thoughtfully to convey the mood of this picture. My interpretation of this picture is that it is casual happy. I say this because when i see sun or light, i think bright happy day. I think the photographer is trying to say "happiness". The exposure also plays a big part in giving this picture its mood. An element of design i see in this image is space. Another element of design that i identified was line. I say this because you can see that theres a straight line in the picture that all leads to one point. In this picture, i can also see the principle of design, rhythm. I say this because of the light posts and the street. Another elements of design i found in this image is color. A technical process used to achieve some of this principles/elements of design was putting the camera at a higher shutter speed because most of everything in this picture is in focus.
4) The photographer of this image used the camera positioning well to convey the mood of this picture. He used high shutter speed wich reveals some of the elements/principles of design. My interpretation of this picture by looking at it is happiness because of the smile on the woman's face and it evokes a sense of warmness inside me. I think the story being told in this image is enjoy life in general. I say this because judging by her age, the photographer probably used an elder person because he or she thought that it would make anyone who sees the image understand the picture and what its about easily. An element of design that i found in this picture is texture. If you look at this picture u can see the wrinkles clearly. A principle of design used in this picture is emphasis. Its clearly seen because the subject of the picture kind of just pops out at you as soon as you look at the picture. Another technical process used to make the image the way it is is probably the photographer lowering his F-stop which exposes the picture more and gives it more meaning.
5) The photographer in this image used the technical process of slow shutter speed in this image to convey the message of this image. The slow shutter speed also kind of gives it a slow, sad, and dark aura to it. My interpretation of the story of this image is the diference between life and death. I say this because its the same person who is dead and the same person who is alive looking at himself. The emotion evoked inside of me is sadness. An element of design used in this picture is value and contrast. I say this because you can see the differences between the lights and the darks. A technical process that helped this image and its meaning is the way the photographer used black and white wich gives it that dark dull look.
